I started my college education by earning two bachelors degrees, one in classical studies (ancient Latin and Greek language and history) and the other in business, with a concentration in information systems. The classical studies degree came out of my desire to read the Bible in the original languages and the business degree was for more practical reasons – like getting a job. :-) My exposure to programming and computers was something I really enjoyed, so I returned to get a third bachelors degree, in computer science.
For the next fifteen years I worked in the computer industry, mainly with local and wide area networks. During this time I earned multiple industry certifications, including Microsoft MCNE, Novell ECNE, Banyan CBS, and Compaq ASE.
I have studied and taught New Testament Greek for quite a number of years, both in churches and at the college level. Feel free to check out my "Learning New Testament Greek" website at www.ntgreek.org. (I love studying and teaching Greek; I currently tutor those learning Greek and read the Greek NT with others on a weekly basis. Let me know if you want to join us!)
Working with networks and doing technical support was also very satisfying; the technology provided a mental challenge and solving people’s computer problems (and providing them with business solutions) allowed me to make a positive impact on peoples’ lives.
My love and enthusiasm for learning naturally led me to a desire to teach. So, I went back to college to get some advanced degrees that would qualify me to teach at the college level. I started with a masters degree in theology and then with a masters degree in computer information systems. I am currently working on my Ph.D. in Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University, with a special concentration in computer security. For the last few years I have taught computer courses at various colleges and continue to do so while finishing my Ph.D.
I am currently an adjunct instructor for the Computer Information Systems department at the Online Campus of ECPI College of Technology, where I teach various networking and security courses. ( www.ecpi.edu) |
